- Fermat's last theorem was finally proven in 1993/94 by Andrew Wiles (see interview). For important work that followed from Wiles breakthrough, see this article on the full Taniyama-Shimura conjecture.
- Neither of the two midterm exams will be cumulative, but the final exam will be cumulative. However, the exams will be designed in such a way that each third of the course will have the same weight. Accordingly, the final exam will be weighted more on the material covered since the second midterm.
